The Bible timeline can be broken down into four major sections:


1. Creation (Genesis 1-2)
2. Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 12:1-Exodus 12:51)
3. The Exodus to the Conquest (Exodus 13-Joshua 24)
4. The Divided Kingdom and Exile (1 Samuel 8-Nehemiah 8)

The Bible timeline is divided into four parts: 


1. The Old Testament 
This spans from Creation to just before the birth of Jesus. It includes the books of the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), the historical books (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther), the books of poetry and wisdom (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon), and the prophetic books (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi). 

2. The Intertestamental Period 
This is the time between the Old and New Testaments when the Jewish people were under the rule of the Greeks and Romans. It includes the books of the Apocrypha. 

3. The Gospels 
This includes the four books of the New Testament which tell the story of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection (Matthew)
