Jesus Quotes About Love
1. Love one another just as I have loved you
The Book of John tells us to obey the commandment of God about love in all our relationships. We should love as selfless and as sincere as it was what Jesus did for us (John 13:34). For in doing so, we can reflect God in our lives. Whether it’s friendship or relationships with our family members, we should always remind ourselves of how God sets the example of what it means to love.
2. Believe in Christ and God’s love to freely receive Eternal Life
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
God shows us what true love is by giving his one and only son to die on the cross. He sets an example of how we should love and how to love. It is human nature to be self-sacrificial for the ones you love dearly. So, likewise, God sacrificed his son so we can follow His example to willingly and openly love others even if it means sacrificing our comforts and security.
3. Committing adultery in your heart
Matthew 5:27-28 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Countries around the world have defined adultery in different ways. So, there are different standards of how a deed can be considered adulterous. But the law of God, however, what goes beyond the eye, says that adultery committed in the heart is the same as doing its act.
Looking lustfully at someone other than your spouse is a sin against God. As children of God, we should not be only clean on the outside and in front of other people. We should guard our thoughts and our hearts to think and feel according to what is written in the Bible.
4. Divorce will never be legal in front of God
Matthew 5:31-32 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce. But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Today, divorce is an easy thing. Most countries have legalized this procedure making it possible to remarry. But committing to a person through marriage is not something that can be taken lightly. Marriage is a gift given by God for us to avoid sinful temptations (1 Corinthians 7:1-2). If we defile this gift because of our lack of self-control, we are disgracing God’s word. Divorce will always be seen as sinful in front of God unless your spouse commits sexual immorality inside of the marriage.
5. Love means suffering and sacrifice
When Jesus said He loves us, He died for us, showing what perfect love is. But what other things does it implies about love? We can infer from this that love does not just stand by and stood there doing nothing while the love of our life needs our sacrifice. May it be time, effort, and even ourselves. True love bears all sacrifices with happiness for it dwells for the happiness of the other person.
5. Whoever loves me will be loved by my father as well
John 14:21:
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.
If we are looking for the perfect love in this world, there’s no chance that we will. But, loving Jesus will grant us the favor of the Father and bring us as close to perfect love as possible. Loving Jesus means following His words and heading to His teachings.
Following what Christ preached may be difficult as we are either too accustomed to the world or we are too affected by what the world dictates. But we should realize that our lives will be simpler and better if we will follow the Words of God.
Jesus Quotes About Humanity
6. Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you
Matthew 7:12 So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
The famous golden rule of Confucius is not originally his idea. It is actually written before Confucious was born. The Bible existed long before most know philosophers did. This quote tells exactly how we can have a harmonized society. It is by thinking of others as equally important as ourselves. We are all human, we are all different from each other, but we all have emotions and preferences. Respecting that differences and thinking about how we might feel if we are in the other person’s shoes might sound really simple but most people don’t realize that we should do things for others as we will do for ourselves, just like what the Bible repeatedly emphasized.
7. Don’t judge others for God should be the only judge
Matthew 1:1 – 2 Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged. For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
As humans, we all have sinned. So, Jesus tells us that we cannot judge others for we are all sinners. No sin is greater than another. We need to examine our motives and ourselves before judging or pointing a finger at another person. By judging others, we are being hypocritical. So, Jesus teaches that instead of judging others, we should be discerning.
8. The Great Commandments
Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Ever wondered what’s above all the things commanded in the Bible? In the Book of Mark, Jesus tells us what the most important command is in the Bible. This commandment is loving God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. He also taught that we should love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves. This is because by doing so, we are pleasing our Father in Heaven. Loving God means following His commandments.
9. What does “loving our neighbors mean”?
Luke 6:30 Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again
Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves is not an easy feat. Most of us will always think of our selves first, especially in tight situations. However, the Bible mentioned loving our neighbors as ourselves means that we value their lives, their emotions, and their well-being as much as we value ours. It means forgiving them as much as we want to be forgiven, feeding them even when we are hungry ourselves, and even saving them even when we are in danger.
10. There is no greater love than laying your life down for your friend
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
The Bible mentions that “the greatest love” is giving our life for someone, which is what Jesus demonstrated when He died on the cross for our sins. And as His disciples, it is our duty to follow His examples and teachings. If someone completely sinless and powerful can give His life for us, how can we ignore our fellow sinner and brothers and sisters in faith?
11. There are things that are worth dying for but none worth killing or hurting anyone
Matthew 26:50-52 Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
When Jesus was brought to be executed, Peter drew His sword and cut off the ear of one of the soldiers. However. instead of letting it be, Jesus healed the ear miraculously and said that whoever uses a sword will die by the sword, no matter the reason. It shows us that no matter what the situation is and how much we feel wronged, we should still show compassion and forgiveness.
12. Do not be anxious about your life
Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Every day we work to put food on our tables and worry about our basic necessities. But, we should stop and think about how the animals live. Although they look for food, they never starve. Why is this? It is because God will always feed them. We constantly hustle through life without thinking about God and we fret so much that we forget to think that God will always provide for us. As Christians, we should remember that just as God cares for animals, he too cares for us as His children.
13. Repay evil with good
Matthew 5:38-39You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also
Naturally, whenever somebody does something wrong to us, we can’t help but think of a way to get even. The Bible says otherwise. It might sound absurd to repay a bad thing done to you with a good one, but believing that God sees everything and that He’ll be the one to judge and give the punishment of the sin made against us.
14. Give in secret
Matthew 6:1 Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
With all the affirmation one can get with just a single post in social media, it is not a mystery as to why some people post everything they’re up to into social networking sites. Doing those things in public will earn us praises and affirmations from the world, but that would be it. Receiving that kind of reward from this world is not comparable to the reward that Our Father in heaven will grant us if we choose to do good deeds in secret with God as the only witness.
15. We must choose between earthly values spiritual values but we can’t have both
Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Jesus explains that we cannot serve two masters, so we either have to choose materialistic things that will fade away, or we choose God whom we can live with eternally. Jesus teaches that heavenly and spiritual values are greater than that of earthly values. The materialistic things we have can be taken away, but our spirituality, faith, and hope in God can’t be taken away. If we put materialistic things first in our lives, earthly values are then our master. However, if we put God first in our lives, then God is our master in whom we can spend eternity with.
Jesus Quotes About Faith
16. Be like a child and you’ll enter the kingdom of God
Mark 10:15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it
When Jesus said to act like a child, he didn’t mean literally act like a child. Instead, he uses it to symbolically compare the characteristics of a kid to a good Christian. Children are genuinely honest, pure in the heart, and teachable. Those traits are essential for us to gain the favor of God and to glorify Him. If we possess those traits and be-childlike in front of our Father in heaven, then we will surely be His children that are meant to live with Him eternally.
17. I am the light of the world
John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus taught us how we can find the light in this dark world. And it is through Him. By following Him and His teachings, we will be enlightened. His teachings are the key to making the right choices and decisions in life.
18. Claim it through prayer and it will be yours
Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
The Bible teaches us that prayer is very powerful. It can stop storms and create earthquakes. In his teachings, Jesus teaches us that whatever our heart desires and whatever we pray for will be ours if we believe we will receive it. However, bear in mind that it does not mean that we will get everything we want by simply asking God for it. There are variables we must face such as hard work, faith, and accepting God’s plan for us.
19. The water of eternal life
John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
We are all familiar with the tale of the “fountain of youth”. This non-existent fountain has not also just graced movies and storybooks, it has also been the subject of scientific researches. While being drunk with worldly knowledge, the continuous search for everlasting youth has consumed most of our lives. Though technology today have been invented to prolong life, no one can contest what the Bible says about our lives being in the hands of God. However, the Bible tells us the way to eternal life and it is not about the “fountain of youth”. It is called the “water of life”.
The word of God is the water of life that will lead us to salvation. It satisfies the thirst of our soul. Jesus said that drinking normal water will make us thirsty again. This means that our spiritual thirst can not be quenched by the things we can see, rather it should be through our faith to Him.
20. Do not utter curses
Matthew 5:33- 37 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil
With social media and too much use of the “freedom of expression”, most people do not put much value with the words they say. And this includes swearing. The Bible has several verses that mention swearing; all of it is a warning about the bad it may bring us. Swearing, especially in the name of God, is a sin. This means that phrases like “Swear to God”, “swear on my life”, and other similar phrases should not be uttered like its nothing.
21. Obey and He will always be with us
Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Our limited capacity as a human brings us anxiety as we go through life. But His words in the Bible assures us that God always has our backs. He will never let us fall because His power and grace are sufficient for us. God’s word is our source of strength in “end times” when many pestilences will appear. We can get through everything with His love as our refuge.
22. Throw the part of your body that causes you to sin
Matthew 5:29-30 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right-hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body goes into hell.
Being human means being weak to the temptations of the flesh. There will be times when we will through the things that we see, hear, or read. The verse above can be taken literally or be interpreted in other ways. Sin will lead us to the eternal fire of Hell and it is better to live in this world without the part of the body which causes us to sin. Our life here is temporary and if we were to compare burning in hell for eternity, throwing one of our hands will not seem bad at all. We should be equipped with the word of God to give us strong resistance against worldly temptations.
23. Find life through Jesus
Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
With all the distractions that this world gives us, we often forget our commitment to God. We get so busy trying to live our lives that we forget that our eternal life with God. Before working on the superficial things in life, we should always know that our priority should be following God and His words.
24. I am the way and the truth and the life
John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
With many religions that exist these days are different ways, they teach to attain salvation. If we were to consult the Bible, Jesus teaches us that the only way to walk on the path of salvation is through him and his words. Whenever you’re in doubt of what people are dictating you about faith, always ask God through prayer.
25. We can do all things through Christ
Luke 1:37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
Faith can move mountains. May it be a mountain of problems, struggles, and emotional turmoil. Our God has no limit so we should trust everything He planned for us and be confident that we can do all things through Him.
26. How powerful words are
Matthew 12:36-37 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
Words are very powerful. They can either make or break spirits (Proverbs 18:4). Jesus warns us about how words from our mouths can affect our salvation. Here, we can see how heavy words are as it can acquit or condemn us in the day of judgment.
27. Do not let people know that you are fasting
Matthew 6:16-18 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Fasting is a very sacred practice for Christians. It is when we purify our soul by giving up food and focusing on praying and filling our thoughts with the words of God. There are many hypocrites that have made themselves look tired so people will know that they are fasting and they will get praises. But in doing that, they are pleasing people and glorifying themselves but not God. The same command when doing a good deed, fasting should be done in discreet as well.
Jesus Quotes About Life
28. We will have Eternal Life with God and Jesus will return again
John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

29. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
It is human nature since time immemorial to fight for our lives. Our natural survival instinct dictates that anything that will hinder our way we will fight till death. But, the Bible says otherwise. Instead of fighting, we should rather feed our enemies when they are hungry, clothe them when they got nothing to wear, and give them a place to stay when they have none. For in doing so, we will exhibit God’s love. According to Jesus, it is more important to give justice and mercy than to receive it.
30. Do not worry about what to eat or drink for tomorrow
Matthew 6:31-34 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
We can’t help but be uneasy about a lot of things in life especially our basic necessities. That is why we spend time making sure that we will not run out of money to buy the things that we need and want. Instead of worrying, we should actually depend on God for He will care for us just as He cares for all He has created.
31. Let your light shine before others
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Glorifying God should not be seen only inside the church. When we go outside, we should be a reflection of God’s teachings. Jesus set an example of how we should let others see our light so that they will marvel at our good deeds and it will make them glorify God. By doing so, we also inspire non-believers to know about our God.

However, Jesus will not abandon us and our struggles. If we remember that victory has been won through Jesus’ death, we can claim the peace of Christ in times of trouble.
33. All things are possible with God
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Talking to His disciples, Jesus mentioned this phrase while talking about the salvation of the rich. In that conversation, He assured them that everything is possible with God; not just in salvation but also with other things in life. In any circumstance, God can work His wonders for and through us.
34. Live a true and good life by staying close to Jesus
John 15:5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Jesus says that the only way to live a truly good life is to have a relationship with Him. He uses a parable of fruits and a vine for fruits need the vine to be fruitful. If the fruit is plucked from the vine, it cannot grow and it will be unfruitful. Likewise as Christians, without Jesus, our lives cannot be fruitful spiritually without a relationship with Christ.
35. Do not let your hearts be troubled
John 14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

36. The Lord will give the desires of our heart
Matthew 7:8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
This verse does not mean that everything we want will be granted by God like He is a genie. It is just the assurance that when we have faith and we follow God’s words, we will always be sufficient and will be granted the things that we dearly want.
37. Be a missionary for God
Matthew 19:12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake.
Leaving all earthly things to follow God is something that can’t be done in a day. It is a decision that should be considered carefully. While preaching, Jesus mentioned that some “eunuch” is born to be one but the eunuch of God are people who made the decision to be a follower of God and to be men who will lead other men into salvation as well.
38. Treasures in heaven
Matthew 6:19-21 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rustdestroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
We hustle and bustle to get a better life. We buy properties after earning the money we worked so hard to get.
