What is the Canon Bible?
The Canon, also known as The Bible, refers to the collection of books that make up the sacred teachings and history of the Christian faith. We call it the Bible for this reason, and you probably call it the Holy Bible. The Bible has its origins in Judaism and Christianity, and it was first written in the oral tradition of the Bible before it became part of a written collection. In Jesus Christ, God reveals himself to humankind through the words of the Bible. So it’s no surprise that it’s our most important part of the Christian faith. In this series of lessons, you’ll learn about The Canon and get a better understanding of what we believe about it. There are many Bible versions and translations available today, and that’s why there are different The Bibles. But it’s important to remember that The Book is eternal, not just in one version. God created the universe through The Book, and he spoke it into existence. The Canon includes the Old Testament books written before the time of Christ, and the New Testament books written after his death. All of the Canon is inspired and written by God and contains essential information about what it means to be a Christian. What Are the Different Types of Bibles? The Bible came to be known as the Holy Bible when it was written down in a book format, and there are some important differences between what we know now as The Holy Bible and what was written in the ancient past. There are different Bible versions, and each contains a different story. So we have a lot of Bibles. Here are some of the most important ways The Bibles are different: 1. Versions are different—The Bible is one version in many books The Bible has versions that are different because the history of The Book was written down in different times and with different methods. The Bible is one book, but it’s written in many books. The King James Bible, for example, is written in different ways based on the different time periods and ways people wrote down The Book. And while we know The Book was not written with a particular version in mind, there are different ways we read and understand The Book today. The Bible has different titles and versions with different titles. There are more than 100 different Bibles in The Bible. The Old Testament, for example, is called The Torah, the Law of Moses. The New Testament is called The Gospels, Acts, Epistles, and Revelation. The Book of Psalms is called the Book of Psalms, and the Book of Proverbs is called The Book of Proverbs. As a Christian, it’s important to know that The Bible has different parts and different names because there are different types of Bible. You should know which Bible version is most accurate. It doesn’t matter if you’re reading a New King James Version or the NIV Bible, because The Book is one book and you can read any part of it any way you want. When we speak of The Canon, we’re referring to the New Testament, which is written in the Gospels, Letters, and Revelation. We call that The New Testament because it’s written about Christ. 2. Different Bible types are important—You can read The Bible in different ways Every Christian’s faith is shaped by reading a Bible. It’s important for each Christian to understand the different parts of The Book, so they can know what they believe and how to apply their faith. There are different types of Bible for this reason, and the books are in different parts of the Bible. You might notice that we call the Book of Psalms by a different name than you do.
